What is A Maternity Photo Shoot?
(and should I bother having one?)
By Kent & London Maternity Photographer, Helen of Schryver Photo
Pregnancy – it’s kind of a weird time right?! Let’s forget for a moment that you’ve been throwing up for weeks now, or your ankles have swollen to twice their normal size.. a maternity photo shoot is all about capturing the excitement and anticipation of this immensely exciting time in your life. Because despite perhaps feeling a bit rubbish, your biggest regret once little one has arrived may be not having a maternity photo shoot. Despite now being a Maternity Photographer, it’s certainly one of mine!
If you’re currently pregnant for the first time, I promise you’ll miss your bump when it’s gone. It may be hard to believe now as you’re so eager to meet your little bundle of joy. I have just a couple of crappy phone pics of my baby bump and, along with the lack of photos of me breastfeeding my daughter, this is one of my biggest ‘photo regrets’. I wasn’t a photographer back then you see. In fact I only really got interested in photography once my daughter was born and I had my own tiny human to practise on!
My Maternity Photo Sessions take place in the comfort of your own home and/or in an outdoor location of your choice and can involve just you and bump, or the whole family – pets included of course! My maternity photography is natural, relaxed and stress-free. The photo session lasts around 90 minutes, with plenty of time allowed for you to fully relax and feel comfortable and happy in front of the camera.
