Family Photography Kent & London – FAQs

Family Photography Kent & London – FAQs

Where are you based?

I live in Kent, but work in London too and occasionally further afield! I shoot outdoors on location (at the beach, park, etc..)or at your home, using natural light, rather than in a studio. Newborn photo shoots take place in your own home.

Can we choose the location for our session?

Absolutely! However if you’re not sure where would work best, let me know your ideas and I can help. Anywhere you spend time as a family works well,  but visiting somewhere new can also be really exciting for kids (and me!). If you’re stuck for inspiration, I have a few favourite places in Kent and London that I’d be happy to share with you. I love to photograph in both countryside/seaside and more urban locations. Good old home, for either part or all of the session, is great too!

How long does the session last?

Family photo sessions last up to 90 minutes, including a quick break in the middle for ice cream or cake and a cup of tea! I’ll suggest a time of day for your photo session that allows me to shoot in the best possible light for that time of year, but I’m usually able to work around your schedule. Newborn photo sessions are a little bit longer, at two hours, to allow for plenty of breaks.

What should we bring to our outdoor family photo session?

Anything you’d typically take on a family day out – wipes, drinks, snacks, toys, bucket and spade, the dog…

What should we wear?

I’d love for you to wear whatever you’re comfortable in, and there’s no need for matching or perfectly coordinated outfits. I advise against large, bold logos or loud graphic prints, as they can be distracting on the eye. Cartoon/character t-shirts also date quickly!

What happens if it rains on the day of our family photo session?

Well we’re in England, and it’s certainly been known to happen! I’m happy to reschedule if it’s going to tip it down. Light rain is fine, as long as both the kids and grown ups are happy splashing about in it. We can always head inside for a hot chocolate afterwards, and get some lovely shots of the kids there too! If rain is forecast, I’ll be in touch to discuss our options. If you choose to have your photo shoot at home, we’ll of course go ahead whatever the weather.

How do we prepare for our newborn photo session at home?

No special preparation is needed. Really – now is not the time for a spring clean!

What happens after the shoot?

I’ll individually edit around 40 of the best photos from your session, and I’ll be in touch to arrange a convenient time for you to visit me for your viewing and ordering appointment. Typically this is about two weeks after the session. I’ll show you your finished images and bring along some lovely samples of wall art products, photo books and albums, so you can see all the different ways the images can be presented. I’ll also show you a mock-up of a bespoke family photo book using your photos, and some sample layouts of how you might chose to display the images on your walls.

What do people usually spend on their images?

Over 95% of my clients chose to buy the digital files from their shoot, with or without additional prints, books and wall art. The average total spend is around £500-£600, with print collections starting at just £195.

How do I book a session?

Once you’re ready to book your session, just give me a call on 07841 457799 or email me at and we’ll look at available dates. The session fee of £95 is taken at the time of booking to reserve your session date. I look forward to hearing from you!
