Oxford Family Photo Shoot
How gorgeous is Oxford as a backdrop for family photos?! I have my 10 Favourite Photos from an Oxford family photo shoot earlier this summer to share today. Although I’ve visited this beautiful city a few times, this was my first Oxford family photo shoot – the first of many I hope! We really lucked out with the weather and had one of the few sunny days we’ve been treated to this summer!
This was the Chen family’s third photo shoot with me, and they chose to have an Oxford family photo shoot this time as they were visiting for the weekend from London. They asked me to meet them there one early summer weekend – and being a big fan of a road trip and a night away from home spent exploring a different city, I jumped at the chance.
An Annual Family Photo Shoot
I do so appreciate when my client families come back to me for a photo shoot each year – it’s so lovely seeing their little ones grow and of course kids of all ages are so much more relaxed about having their photo taken when they already know me (and this often applies to the grown ups too!).
A Stroll Around Oxford City’s Historic Sights
We kept our plan for this Oxford Family Photo Shoot super casual. The most important thing I’m looking for on an outdoor family photo shoot – other than going with the natural flow of where the family want to go and what the kids are happiest doing! – is the quality of light.
Although it’s wonderful to be able to get some beautiful buildings or historic landmarks in the background of your family photos, this just doesn’t make for great photos if you’re awkwardly posing in front of them, or the light is bad. After meeting Benjamin and his parents and having a quick catch up, we wandered around some of Oxford’s most famous buildings. Happily we found lots of gorgeous light, not too many crowds at all and the best ice-cream shop as our final stop!
