I have some gorgeous natural family and children’s photography to share with you on the blog today! As an alternative family photographer in Kent I love seeking out new locations for my shoots, and Thornden Woods, near Canterbury, were a fab find. There’s tons there for the kids to see and do, too! I avoid using tons of cheesy poses on my family photo shoots, instead opting to let the kids just run around and be themselves. I much prefer to capture the true character of a family in a really honest and creative way. Most parents are relieved too, when they learn that neither they or the kids are required to sit still and say “cheese”! ;)
Lisa and Paul wanted an outdoorsy, fun family shoot with their gorgeous boys Ruben and Noah. They were after some really natural family photographs, and above all lots of shots of the boys just being themselves. Lisa wanted the boys to be able to look back on the photographs one day and remember, in her words, “Their childhood – the fact that they had one, and weren’t expected to grow up too fast. Simple fun outside, exploring, being in nature and the rhythm of the seasons. That they were held and loved always.”
We picked a gorgeous day for an outdoor family photo shoot – not too cold and we even spotted a patch of blue sky here and there! I actually love doing family photo shoots outdoors at this time of year – the light is just beautiful in winter and there’s something so snuggly about little kids wrapped up warm in their snowsuits! The spots where families usually prefer to have their photo shoots – woods, the beach, the park – are quieter in the winter months too.
Here’s a selection of my favourite pics from the day. Hope you enjoy viewing these – don’t forget to leave this gorgeous family some love by posting a comment at the end!
