Family Vacation Photo Shoot in the South of France – Four Seasons Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat

I have a bit of a throwback post on the blog today. This gorgeous family vacation photo shoot in the south of France is from March 2019, way before we’d even heard of Covid 19 and travelling internationally for family photo shoots was still something that I loved doing regularly and most definitely took for granted! 😭

This lovely father and son family vacation photo shoot is with Christoffer and his son Jonathan, who I first met when Christoffer booked me for a shoot at a hotel in London when they were visiting a few years ago. Since then I’ve been lucky enough to join them on their travels for family vacation photo shoots in some beautiful locations all over the world!

This family vacation photo shoot in the south of France took place at the Four Seasons Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat, near Nice. I have a soft spot for the south of France so jumped at the chance to make a trip of it and stay there for a few days.

Family Photography at the Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat

We started off this family vacation photo shoot fairly early in the morning, to avoid the heat of the day. We decided to capture Jonathan’s morning bathtime in the hotel room, before heading out to explore the hotel grounds.

I always love to capture some of the family’s everyday routines in my photos, as these photos are just so wonderful to look back on as your kids get older.

You forget what it was like to hold your child’s hand as you walk together, or to help them brush their teeth in the morning, or wrap them up in a big towel for post-bathtime snuggles..

Beautiful photos of these seemingly ordinary moments become more valued and treasured as the years go by. As a primarily documentary-style family photographer, it’s these photo memories that I most love to create for my clients.

The Four Seasons Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat, South of France

This is one gorgeous hotel! Previous guests here apparently include everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to Winston Churchill, and this place has been the go-to chic hotel on the Côte d’Azur for over a century. The Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat is perched high up on a cliff in Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat, near Nice, and the views out to the mediterranean are just beautiful.

The grounds are of course stunning and provided lots of opportunities for family photos. Jonathan (and his dad!) also had a play on a couple of the hotel’s own little sports cars especially for kids (seriously, how cool is this place.!). We finished off the shoot with a nice relaxing cold drink in the sunshine on the hotel’s beautiful terrace.
